In these days of chain restaurants, it's nice to find a independent place that serves good American fare.
We dined on a Saturday night.
I had the broiled seafood platter, which came with 5 or 6 medium fish, 4 medium scallops and a flounder filet. All were tasty and not overcooked. The accompanying tarter sauce was very tasty, mayonnaise based with maybe a touch of mustard or horseradish.
My husband had the ribeye, ordered medium rare, but came out medium. Nonetheless it was a good quality cut of beef, not gristly, and well seasoned. The steak was topped with onion straws prepared from sweet onions and crispy. We both had side salads that were fresh-no nasty lettuces here! and baked potatoes. The potatoes were just the right size and baked to perfection. They come with butter and sour cream but you can get the potato fully loaded with bacon, chives, and cheese for less than a dollar more. Dinner is served with sourdough-like bread and butter. The restaurant also has a full bar.
The place was packed on Saturday night but no wait by the time we arrived, just after 7 pm. Our server was not most attentive, but others were really hustling, so it seemed that we were just a little unlucky.
Overall we enjoyed our dinner and were pleasantly surprised to find this nice restaurant in rural North Carolina.

Ribeye, Baked Potato and Salad totally not worth the price. Steak was soaked in butter and half of it was to tough to eat. Waiter kept calling me man instead of sir. 1-star for the beer and bread. Don't waste your time here.

What a joke, when I got to town I was told it was the best in town, I'm sorry for the locals! I went and I couldn't even finish the horrible food I received, then I was told, give them a second chance go on prime rib night it's so good, my prime rib came to the table and the center was cold. How do you screw up prime rib? If people think this is good, I'm sorry y'all have obviously never had good food before to know any better. If you're new to the area and looking through reviews to find some good eats, pass on this place unless your into punishing yourself!

If I was a local, I'd come here all the time. Sam was our waitress today - thank you for a lovely evening. This is s pretty small town - we were delightfully surprised by the lovely ambiance. I'd gone here for a business or a birthday dinner.  The fried mushrooms were good, the side salad had spring lettuce (but just the cheap iceberg lettuce like other places), ... and that was the biggest/thickest pork chop I have ever seen (cooked perfectly). So much food, no room for dessert (but grabbed cobbler to go - can't pass up on that). We'll be back.

This was my first visit here. The drink specials were mediocre at best, but the bartender made good drinks. Bar area is smaller than most I've been too. Considering it was a lot of people in that area, it was a bit uncomfortable.

On to the food.... So I ordered a medium steak, broccoli and fries. The wait time was average, which was cool. When my plate comes, my food is steaming and the plate is hot. A big plus in my eyes. So of course I cut the steak, to see if it was cooked right...... *Drum roll please* IT WAS! By this time, I'm excited to eat UNTIL I see a long strand of hair on my plate. I immediately get the bar tender, have it returned and ask for a new plate. I contemplated leaving bc I was disgusted but it was getting late, so I decided to wait it out.

I get a new plate, steak is cooked well again and food is hot. Here's the kicker, the bartender tells me per the chef, "it wasn't a hair but something from when it was cooked." I felt like my intelligence was insulted. There was no type of compensation, so I just paid and was ready to go!

As I am walking out the door, I was stopped by a gentleman and asked about my service. I tell him and he says "he's sorry. He had no clue that happened." Turns out he was the manager. IF I ever go back, it'll just be for drinks.
